Abstract

During the Antique Period, humans used lamps to illuminate their venue and what we can refer to as 'taming the fire'. From the Paleolithic Period, such lamps have been made from different materials to use for various purposes. These revelations were carried by scientists. In this study, Roman lamps made from wheels, registered to the Isparta Museum's inventory, were examined. The total number of these works, which were selected from all the ceramic groups studied within the TUBITAK Quick Support Project No. 107K138, is 38. In our study, we have identified six main types (Type A - F) and some subtypes of these lamps. Except for one, all evaluated lamps have been purchased by the museum. Therefore, these works were not assessed by stratigraphic methods but by analogy, and have been dated between 6th-1st Century BC range.
